Councilman John Park was elected to represent District 2 in November 2014 and re-elected without opposition in November 2017.
Born in South Korea, John Park and his family immigrated to the United States at the age of 6. His introduction to Southern hospitality,
culture, and of course - football, began in Alabama where he developed a deep appreciation and love for his new country.
A few years later, John's father moved the family to Decatur, Georgia and enrolled in Columbia Seminary. John attended high school
at Decatur High, where he played soccer, basketball, and ran cross country. Upon graduation, John attended Emory University where he
earned a Bachelors in Business Administration from the Goizueta Business School. After Emory, John started his technology consulting
career at IBM.
After September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, John left technology consulting to work on bioterrorism preporation at the CDC.
John married Morgan Harris in 2003 and accompanied her to Paris, France where Morgan practiced international finance law.
In 2005, John returned to the United States and continued his work as a contractor for the CDC at Northrop Gruman. In 2007, John and
Morgan moved to what is now the city of Brookhaven and set down roots. Since moving to Brookhaven, John has formed an amateur soccer
club (Nuesoft FC in the ADASL), fostered dogs for animal rescue organizations, and is a technical consultant for surveillance of nationally
notifiable diseases with the CDC and state departments of health.
John was one of the main organizers of the Atlanta Soccerfest 2014, the largest World Cup watch party in the Southeast, which brought nearly
15,000 visitors to Brookhaven Park
